Promotion keeps an author’s name alive in the mind of readers. An author’s life can be taken over by all the promotional activities. Aside from designing bookmarks and book trailers, you have a website and/or blog to maintain and internet networking communities suck you in. A few hours later, you realize you haven’t written a word of your story but you did connect with a long lost high school friend.
Time Management is key for an author’s success. For example, this week I have few events planned:
Today – Romancing February Blog Tour – Stop by my blog and comment to win a pair of earrings. You’ll also learn how to win the grand prize of $75 gift certificate to The Wild Rose Press.
Tomorrow – Spotlight Author – I’m the spotlight author at Writers and Readers of Distinctive Fiction.
Thursday – Free short story – I have a flash fiction short story available at The Long and Short Reviews as part of their Thrifty Thursday promotion.
Until Mid-March – Sony eReader Contest – Buy one of my short stories: Dragon’s Mate, Garden Magic, or Informally Yours for only $1.50 and you can enter for a chance to win a Sony eReader. Click here for the details.

Oh, so true, Beth. I'm right in the middle of it all. I spent several hours today updating my website and am trying to finish edits on a novel coming out in May.
I'll check out your posts and contests. I love to win stuff.

Beth you are so right. Most of my day seems to go on the things you mention. Time goes so quickly when you're updating a website or working on a trailer for a forthcoming book - and as for networking, it's the biggest timesuck I know and I still don't participate as much in the various loops as I would like.
I'll check out your events, good luck with everything.
Linda - It can be fun updating a website but I spend so much time formatting it 'just right'. I'm picky. :) Thanks.
Hywela - Up the loops and facebook eat up a lot of time. I'm having to set boundaries and keep a chunk of the day for writing and then when the kids are home...I can play...ah I mean network.
Thanks for checking out my events.
Beth, I know exactly what you mean! In fact, I'm doing it right now. I better get back to my edits. ;-)
