INTRODUCTION: Bess McBride

Hi Everyone!

My name is Bess McBride, and I write contemporary romance, light paranormal, time travel and vintage romance...so far.

Here's a blurb and excerpt from the time travel on a train to the late Victorian era of Seattle. I love the book and had a great time writing it. I hope you enjoy! The book trailer link is below as well as blips from a few lovely reviews!

Blurb: College teacher Ellie Standish thinks she’s on a sleek modern train heading to a conference on women’s studies in Seattle, but she awakens from a night’s doze to find herself on a bizarre historical train full of late Victorian era reenactors who refuse to come out of character. When the leader of the group—one handsome, green-eyed Robert Chamberlain—finally convinces her the date is indeed 1901, a skeptical Ellie decries any eccentric theories of time travel and presumes she is smack dab in the middle of a very interesting historical dream. She turns the directorial reins of her dream over to one smitten and willing Robert, only to realize that dreams cannot last forever. Someday, she must wake up to reality, though Ellie no longer has any idea what reality is. She only knows that Robert must play an important part in her future. But how can he...if he’s only a figment of her imagination or worse yet...a man who belongs to an era long past?

Excerpt:

“I’m not going to marry an eighteen-year-old girl, Grandmother.” Robert turned away and strode to the bay window. He stared down onto the city below.

“Robert, be reasonable. You need to marry sometime. Don’t you want a wife? One young enough to give you children? Any one of your sister’s friends would be quite suitable.”

“I’m afraid not, Grandmother. I’m waiting.”

“Waiting for what?” Mrs. Chamberlain muttered.

“The right one. She will come along. I know it.”

“For goodness sake, Robert. Where will you find her? You never appear even to look.”

Robert continued to stare out the window with his hands clasped behind his back. “I do not think I have met her yet, but I feel certain that I will know her when she does finally appear.”

“Robert, what nonsense! You are usually so sensible in all matters except when it comes to this subject. It seems my son’s wife raised a silly romantic,” the older woman muttered.

“Perhaps she did, Grandmother. Perhaps she did,” he murmured with a smile.

“Give me great-grandchildren, Robert. I cannot live forever.”

He turned away and grinned at the frail appearing silver-haired woman resting on the green velvet settee.

“Yes, you will, Grandmother. You will outlive us all.”

“Hmmppff,” she muttered looking away. “The house is quiet. We need children in it once again.”

“Perhaps my sister can do the honors in a few years, Grandmother. All she lacks is a suitable husband.” He consulted his pocket watch.

She eyed him with a piercing stare.

“Have you become a confirmed bachelor, Robert? Has time passed you by then?”

Robert laughed and bent to kiss his grandmother’s pale cheek.

“I hope not, madam. I did not intend to remain a bachelor for the rest of my life.”

“Then why do you wait? Give me a practical reason, none of your romantic musings.”

He straightened and grinned. “I can only assure you once again that I wait for the right woman. I know it sounds foolish, but it is the truth.” He turned away toward the door. “I must go into the office to see to a few things before we leave tomorrow. I look forward to riding the train. I always do.”

INTRODUCTION: HYWELA LYN

Hi, this is Hywela Lyn, I'm so thrilled to be part of this great new Blog, with so many wonderful paranormal authors. A little bit about myself -

I was born and lived most of my life in Wales, although I am currently living in a small village in England. My first two names are Hywela Lyn, which I use as my penname, although I've always been called just 'Lyn' by my family and friends. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed reading and writing Science Fiction/Fantasy and Adventure stories, and the occasional Western - always with a strong romantic element. Although most of my stories tend to be futuristic, the worlds I create are usually untainted by crowded cities and technology, embracing the beauty and wildness of nature. My characters often have to fight the elements and the terrain itself.

My first novel, 'Starquest', a futuristic romance was released on 29th August and will be in print next week on 5th Decemeber! The sequel, 'Children of the Mist' is contracted with the same publisher and my novella about the Greek Muse, Terpsichore is available now as an e-book and also as one of three stories in Book III of The Wild Rose Press's 'Song Of The Muses' series.

I love all animals, especially horses and enjoy Western riding. I have two horses, two ferrel cats and a 'rescued' Jack Russell terrier called Bouncer. Oh yes, and a long suffering husband called Dave!

Oh I must tell you - I've been in the Author Spotlight at LASR all week - if you pop over now, you can see my little feature on an Old Welsh Mansion called 'Nanteos'. I've also just learnt that 'Starquest' is up for Book of the Week at LASR, so if you fancy reading the review, here's the link to the site LASR -Voting doesn't start until Saturday and finishes just before midnight on Sunday - so if you care to vote - thank you so much, I'd really appreciate it.

Introduction - Linda LaRoque

I started writing in 1991. My first book wasn't published until 2007. This year I've had one short story and one novel published. In 2009 I'll have two, possible three novels and one short story published. It has been a thrilling ride and it's so rewarding to see my dream of becoming a published author come true.

I've lived most of my life in Texas so most of my stories are set there. I particularly love West Texas, the desert landscapes, plant life, and the people.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I'd ever write something paranormal. But, I wrote a time travel, loved it, and now have written three more. I even find myself occasionally adding paranormal happenings in my contemporary western romances. My newest release with Champagne Books, Forever Faithful, has a ghost.

Here is the book trailer.

Introduction - Viola Estrella

Hi all!

I’m happy to be a part of this wonderful group of authors!

My name is Viola Estrella. I live in the Denver, Colorado area with my husband and sons. I write both paranormal romance and urban fantasy. My paranormal romance novel, Bewitching You, is coming soon to the Wild Rose Press. I also have a short story available as a Free Read titled “Finding Fate.” Please check it out if you get the chance.

More news to come! Until then, here's a little info about my current works:

Bewitching You blurb:

An interfering ghost, a nosy mind-reading grandmother, a psychic man-hating mother, and a spell gone wrong are only a few dilemmas Sofia Good has to deal with in order to find love. It’s not easy having control of your own destiny when you can’t even remember what you put on that morning, even worse when you’re given a “gift” of precognition to save people’s lives, and you have no clue how to use it.

Grayson Phillips lost his brother in a senseless accident, and now he’s trying to gain back control by maintaining a safe and uneventful life plan. But after sexy, quirky Sofia crash lands into his world he’s forced to rethink his strategy.

When Sofia’s grandmother casts a love spell, it successfully maneuvers Sofia and Grayson into her home in secluded Amish country. Time will tell if the love spell helps or destroys Sofia’s only chance at love.

“Finding Fate” blurb:

Kara Lachance is too impatient to wait for destiny to run its course. The visions she’s had of her future love, Adam, lead her straight to his window. A quick peek of him in person won’t change their fate. But what happens when he invites her inside?

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
