ANGEL VINDICATED
A sexy urban fantasy

Available now as an eBook from www.cerridwenpress.com!

Come find out what sins Abby has avoided today.
Really. It's lonely being an Angel with a bad rep.

Excerpt:

“I’m leaving. I really shouldn’t be around you anymore.”

“You’re attracted to me too. Why can’t you admit it?” It wasn’t really a question though. He knew. He braced my waist and drew me toward him. “Oh, wait. I know. If you admit you desire a half-breed, then you’re somehow admitting you’re inadequate. Right?”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” I lied. He couldn’t be more right.

“Because you believe half-breeds are inferior and not worth an Angel’s time or affection. Is that it, Abigail?”

His lips were so close to mine, his warm breath lingered at my nose, reminding me of the delicious taste of his mouth. I sniffed the aroma in and gulped it down. Pathetic. Really, really pathetic.

With whatever brain cells I had left I muttered, “I have to go. Now.”

“Of course.”

Before I knew what was happening next I was being escorted to the elevator. His hand was on my back as he gently guided me along the hardwood floor. I couldn’t hear his shoes but mine were squeaking noisily, covering the sound of Harley’s continuous keyboard tapping.

Such a stupid thing to concentrate on, Abby.

He pressed the down button and turned me by my shoulders so he could look at my face. “Be careful,” he whispered. “Peter Piper isn’t dangerous by himself but he’s idiotic enough to follow someone who is. Do you understand?”

“Why don’t you give me more information then?” I was surprised he’d come to that conclusion by simply looking at Piper’s file. What kind of notes did this guy take? And how could I get my hands on them?

“Have dinner with me tonight and we can discuss it.”

“I wouldn’t even if I could.”

“You’re working?”

I didn’t answer. I may have wanted to lick whipped cream off his body but I didn’t trust him to know any more about me than he already did.

“Lunch tomorrow, then?”

“Not going to happen.”

He drew in an annoyed breath and pulled a business card out of thin air. “Take this. Call me if you change your mind, day or night. Or if you feel like you might be attacked again.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “What would you do about it?”

“Prevent it from happening, of course.”

Angel Vindicated Cover & Excerpt

Sorry, but I have to brag a little over the cover I received for ANGEL VINDICATED. The cover artist, Dar Albert, did an unbelievable job in gathering and organizing my ramblings to come up with something like this.

I couldn't have found a better picture for my heroine, Abby Angel. Here's a small excerpt that does a pretty good job of describing her personality and her looks:

His mouth quirked up to a grin as he traced my bottom lip with his thumb. “What? Our little tangle on the desktop? If I remember correctly you enjoyed every second of it.”

“I did not. Not in any way.” Liar, liar, pants on fire. “I was repulsed, actually. It was the worst experience of my life.”

He dropped his hands to his side. I hated that I missed the warmth of his touch.

“Repulsed?” he asked. “That’s a strong word. You’re not suggesting, then, that I forced myself on you, are you? The repulsive, evil half-breed that I am.”

“No but I—”

“You could’ve finished me off back then if it was that horrible an experience. I was waiting for it, you know. For you to come back in a blaze of regret and strike me down to Hell for eternity. But you didn’t. You avoided me instead.”

“I was humiliated.”

He opened his mouth to respond but shut it again and gave me a puzzled look. “How so?”

“I was there to give you a warning, Siméon. Then I was on top of your desk naked. That doesn’t happen to other Angels. Other Angels don’t let themselves get seduced by demons.”

“I’m half human.”

“They don’t get seduced by humans either.”

“Has it happened before? With other demons?”

“Of course not. I’m not a slut.” Ugh. That sounded a little too defensive.

He grinned. “How many humans?”

“Zero.”

“How many Angels?”

“That’s none of your business.”

“More than six?”

“No,” I said too quickly.

“More than five?”

“Why do you care?”

“Five then.” He tapped his finger on his chin. “So I’m one of five? That surprises me a little considering how easy it was to get you naked. Not that I’m complaining.”

“Actually, I’ve only been with three men, you jerk. Including you.” MOG help me. Why was I standing here arguing with a half-breed who could testify I was a true redhead?

“Did the other two enjoy you as much as I did?”

My mouth fell open in shock. “I-I’m not here to discuss my sex life. What is wrong with you?” Why did I ask? I already knew what was wrong with him. He was a fiend, a mongrel, Satan’s little helper, wreaking havoc wherever he went. I made a move for the doorknob but he held the door shut with one large hand.

“I apologize, Abigail.” He spoke softly in my ear with his front pressed against my back. “I only want to know more about you. You intrigue me. But I understand if my questions are too personal. I’ll try to behave.”

“What do you mean I intrigue you?” I had to ask. Yep, I was so hard up I was fishing for compliments from my enemy. How pathetic.

I felt his mouth brush against my shoulder as he inhaled. “Your smell is of an Angel but slightly different. Spicier, maybe. Your hair is the color of fire, wild, free and sensuous.” He collected my spiraled locks into a ponytail with his hand and then swept the tips of his fingers down the back of my neck. “And your skin is pale and delicate with…freckles. It’s imperfect but charming. No, more like enchanting. You enchant me, Abigail.” He said the last part as if he’d found the final piece to a puzzle and I sighed.

Angel Vindicated

I'm happy to announce my urban fantasy, Angel Vindicated, has been contracted by Cerridwen Press. Release date to be determined after the fun editing stage is complete. I loved writing this story, and I can't wait to share it with the world (yes, I'm optimistic). Not that I don't enjoy writing my usual paranormal romance. I do. Very much so. And I hope you'll enjoy it as well. It's just that Angel Vindicated was so different that I had to step out of my box... For a few reasons:

-It’s in first person. My heroine, Abby Angel, is the star of the story and she has a ton of fun with it, if I do say so myself. And I did.
-It’s not a straight romance, although there is a lot of steamy romance in it. I couldn’t deny my heroine that. Being an Angel, her life is pretty restricted. She has to have some fun, right?
-It’s grittier (some violence, plenty of action, lots of dry humor)

Here's a blurb:

Abigail Angel may not enjoy being a law enforcement Angel for Demon Control, a branch of Angels Inc, but she excels at it. Deporting unruly demons back to Hell is her specialty. Her personal life, on the other hand, could use a little work. The virtuous and pristine genes seem to be missing in this particular Angel, getting Abigail in trouble more than she likes to admit. To date, her biggest vice has been Simeon Keller, a half demon/half human, who effortlessly managed to seduce Abigail five years ago. She’s avoided him ever since but she still can’t seem to knock the bad reputation the blunder has branded on her.

Now, the threat of a demon rebellion has Angels Inc overwhelmed and Abigail must trust Simeon to help her find and deport the fiends who are attempting to destroy earth’s only salvation. Staying out of Simeon’s bed is the least of her worries as she fights for her life and the lives of all Angels and humans everywhere.

Stay tuned for more info. Cover, excerpts and release date coming soon.

Happy Monday!

Examining Paranormal Romance

Being a person who loves to over-analyze any given situation, I thought it would be fun to pick apart the paranormal romance genre as a whole. So excuse me while I give into the left side of my brain (which, by the way, battles tirelessly with the right side of my brain on a daily basis).

To begin with, the paranormal romance genre is so broad it could be split up into an infinite number of new genres. Why do I think this? Because the word “paranormal” has such a broad meaning.

According to
http://www.dictionary.com/, paranormal means:

–adjective

of or pertaining to the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation, as psychokinesis, extrasensory perception, or other purportedly supernatural phenomena.

That’s a pretty general definition. To get a better idea, all I have to do is look at the list of authors who contribute to this blog. Each brings their own imagination to the paranormal romance genre to create stories about:

-Time travel
-Ghosts
-Werewolves
-Vampires
-Shape shifters
-Mythology
-Psychic abilities
-Angels
-Demons
-Futuristic space travel
-Witches, Sorcerers, and Warlocks
-I’m sure I’m missing several so go ahead and shout it out if you think of more. The left side of my brain welcomes it.

Of these, there are immeasurable possibilities to create even more types of supernatural phenomena. Why? Because paranormal fiction has no guidelines, no boundaries, and absolutely no limit to the worlds an author can create.

Charlaine Harris, one of my favorite authors, gives a perfect example with her Southern Vampire Series. She’s built a vivid parallel universe where vampires exist alongside humans. To add to that, she went on to bring in shapeshifters, werewolves, fairies, and witches. Her books are rich with mystery and the unknown, and it keeps me turning the pages and wanting more.

I suppose these are the reasons I love to both read and write paranormal romance and fantasy. There’s no end to what my imagination can come up with… which gives the left side of my brain a reason to relax and allow the right side of my brain to run away with the ghosts, angels, demons, or whatever else I want to write about that day.

So what is your favorite genre inside the paranormal romance genre?

Introduction - Viola Estrella

Hi all!

I’m happy to be a part of this wonderful group of authors!

My name is Viola Estrella. I live in the Denver, Colorado area with my husband and sons. I write both paranormal romance and urban fantasy. My paranormal romance novel, Bewitching You, is coming soon to the Wild Rose Press. I also have a short story available as a Free Read titled “Finding Fate.” Please check it out if you get the chance.

More news to come! Until then, here's a little info about my current works:

Bewitching You blurb:

An interfering ghost, a nosy mind-reading grandmother, a psychic man-hating mother, and a spell gone wrong are only a few dilemmas Sofia Good has to deal with in order to find love. It’s not easy having control of your own destiny when you can’t even remember what you put on that morning, even worse when you’re given a “gift” of precognition to save people’s lives, and you have no clue how to use it.

Grayson Phillips lost his brother in a senseless accident, and now he’s trying to gain back control by maintaining a safe and uneventful life plan. But after sexy, quirky Sofia crash lands into his world he’s forced to rethink his strategy.

When Sofia’s grandmother casts a love spell, it successfully maneuvers Sofia and Grayson into her home in secluded Amish country. Time will tell if the love spell helps or destroys Sofia’s only chance at love.

“Finding Fate” blurb:

Kara Lachance is too impatient to wait for destiny to run its course. The visions she’s had of her future love, Adam, lead her straight to his window. A quick peek of him in person won’t change their fate. But what happens when he invites her inside?

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
